All data are supplied without distribution rights. You may not redistribute, copy or sell in any form (value added or not) these data to any other parties/bodies outside your organisation/department. All data sets are supplied with metadata files which, inter alias, include information on the custodian of the specific data set. Any reports and/or publications resulting from your project must acknowledge the Western Cape Nature Conservation Board (WCNCB), Scientific Services and, if different, the custodian of the data.

All data are supplied with no expressed or implied warranty as to their suitability for purpose, planimetric accuracy or completeness. The WCNCB cannot be held responsible for any errors, which may occur in provided data sets.

The original data was extracted from the various regions stewardship databases.

Since the database is not in working order, updated shapefiles are sent annually to the Programme Manager for Stewardship Sites from the various regions and then onto SS. These updates are added to the latest known update.

The updates for 2014 were done on the base layers as last updated by Genevieve Pence in August 2013. These layers were; (i) Master Stewardship Register_Q4 Jan 2013.xlsx, (ii) StewardshipAll_pluspending_Capenature_16aug2013_utm.xlsx, and (iii) StewardshipAll_pluspending_CapeNature_16Aug2013_utm.shp.

The updates to the Stewardship Sites layer were received from Kerry Purnell on the 3rd of October 2014. The updated spreadsheet was received on the 10th of October 2014.

Various updates were then done in 2015, 2017 and 2018 based on the latest Master Stewardship Register and gazettes of declared sites received. Also various corrections of boundaries and names as needed.

Received an updated Q2 stewardship register from Monique Key on 8 September 2019. Using this register, I (i) added 3 new sites based on the property reference and cadastre layer, and (ii) changed the statuses of 16 properties and fixed the boundaries of 68 sites.

For several sights with a status of “signed”, whether BA, VCA or CNR, captured the date it was signed from the register.

(i) The following new sites were added;

Atlantic Beach BA (signed), Darling Municipal CNR (signed), Plaaspad BA (signed).

(ii) The statuses of the following sites were changed;

Bokbaai CNR (designated), Brenton Blue Butterfly CNR (signed), Cedar Rock CNR (signed), Destiny (Piksteelkuil) CNR (designated), False Bay CNR (designated), Gourikwa CNR (signed), Helderberg CNR (designated), Modderfontein CNR (signed), Moutonshoek PE (designated), Platbos Forest CNR (designated), Uitzigt at Inyathi CNR (signed), Vergelegen CNR (designated), Wilde Als Vlei CNR (designated), Witkliprug CNR (designated), Witteberg CNR (designated), Wolfgat CNR (designated).

(iii) Fixed the boundaries of the following sites according to the SG diagrams or cadastre layer;
