The assessment report of inland aquatic ecosystems, which forms part of the National Biodiversity

Assessment 2018 (NBA 2018), follows on from two previous assessments. These were undertaken for

mainstem rivers and previously assessed in the National Spatial Biodiversity Assessment 2004 (NSBA 2004)

and for mainstem and tributary rivers, and inland wetlands, previously assessed in the National Biodiversity

Assessment 2011 (NBA 2011). The current report builds on the previous datasets, reports and findings, as

well as that of the National Freshwater Ecosystems Priority Areas (NFEPAs) project of 2011.
