Vegetation types of the SANBI vegmap were mapped by specialists. Data were derived from various sources, including field mapping, specialist knowledge and experience, and available data layers. Most of the Cape Agulhas municipality had already been mapped as part of the Agulhas Conservation Plan (1999) and the Cape Lowlands Renosterveld Project (2002). Data from these initiatives fed into the new SANBI vegetation map.
For the municipality’s layer, data was clipped to the Cape Agulhas municipality buffered by 2km beyond its administrative boundary.
