The location of the conservation areas managed by CapeNature is important to ensure proper management planning and decision making.

You may not redistribute, copy or sell in any form (value added or not) these data to any other parties/bodies outside your organisation/department. All data sets are supplied with metadata files which, inter alias, include information on the custodian of the specific data set. Any reports and/or publications resulting from your project must acknowledge the Western Cape Nature Conservation Board (WCNCB), Scientific Services and, if different, the custodian of the data.

The existing layer was extensively updated by verifying each land parcel and extracting the updated cadastre boundaries from the 2016 cadastre data received from the SG. Where documentation and/or proclamations are available, the boundaries were checked against these. Also in some instances the SG diagrams were obtained through CapeFarmMapper to verify boundary descriptions. All the land parcels were then dissolved per conservation areas and the attribute information attached. Herewith the list per complex per reserve of all the changes and checks done to each;

ANYSBERG NATURE RESERVE

Anysberg NR - Anysberg is a combination of declared provincial nature reserve (Gazette 4656, 17 Aug 1990, No 50 of 1990, Gazette 5095, 29 Nov 1996, No 57 of 1996), declared WWF-SA land (western section) (Gazette 6477, 9 Nov 2007, No 16 of 2007), undeclared WWF-SA land (eastern section), State Forest (Staatskoerant, 25 Mei 1984) and private land. Received proclamation (Gov Gazette 8488 dated 10Sept2021) indicating that 5 of the eastern WWF properties were declared.

BABILONSTORING NATURE RESERVE COMPLEX

Babilongstoring NR - No documentation available. Extracted cadastre farm portions based on older CN layer. Maanschynkop NR - The boundary matches a map for which the source is unknown.

BIRD ISLAND NATURE RESERVE COMPLEX

Elands Bay NR - No documentation available. State owned land. Extracted cadastre farm portions based on older CN layer.

CEDERBERG NATURE RESERVE COMPLEX

Cederberg Wilderness Area - Small corrections made by SG to the boundaries for farms 185/0, 182/0, 331/6, and 339/0. Proclaimed wilderness area, Gazette No. 3982, 27 July 1973, notice 1256. Also Gazette No. 5029, 26 Mar 1976, notice 476. Provided a map for which the source is unknown. Hexberg NR - Correction made by SG to the boundary for farm 58/0.

Matjiesrivier NR - The boundaries were extracted from cadastre 2016 farm portions layer as much as what it matched the proclamation. Corrections made by SG on the boundaries for farms 323/0, 311/0, 312/0 and 314/0 (larger). It appears many subdivisions and consolidations happened after the reserve description was submitted and before proclamation. Gazette 5449, 4 April 2000, no. 16/2000.

DASSEN ISLAND NATURE RESERVE

Dassen Island NR - Extracted the boundary from cadastre 2016 farm portions (follows high-water mark) and buffered it by 500m, as per the extension to the boundary proclamation in Gazette 5325, No. 5 of 1999, 22 January

1999.

DE HOOP NATURE RESERVE COMPLEX

De Hoop NR - Based on a conversation with Tamassum Parker, the farm portions boundaries indicated as following the high-water mark was fixed based on a more accurately mapped line from digital aerial photography received from CD:NGI. There were quite a few issues with some of the farm portions received with the cadastre 2016 layer, which was fixed based on extracted SG diagrams. The boundary matches a map for which the source

is unknown.

DE MOND NATURE RESERVE COMPLEX

DYER ISLAND NATURE RESERVE COMPLEX

Dyer Island NR - Extracted from cadastre 2016 farm portions layer that was then buffered by 500m according to expansion proclamation in Gazette 5257, No 15 of 1998, 15 may 1998. Originally proclaimed island reserve,

Gazette 4524, 18 Mar 1988, notice no. 23/1988.

Geyser Island NR - No registered boundary available from SG. Originally proclaimed island reserve, Gazette 4524, 18 Mar 1988, notice no. 23/1988. Mapped along high-water mark from 2010 World-View image. Was then buffered by 500m according to expansion proclamation in Gazette 5257, No 15 of 1998, 15 may 1998.

Quoin Rock Island NR - No registered boundary available from SG. Mapped along high-water mark of GoogleEarth image at 37m. Proclaimed island reserve, Gazette 4524, 18 March 1988, notice 23/1988.

GAMKABERG NATURE RESERVE COMPLEX

Fontein NR - Extracted the boundaries from cadastre 2016 farm portions layer and clipped portion of farm 176 according to old CN reserve layer. No documentation available. Seems unclear whether WWF owns the farm

portion or a five eleventh share. Received Government Gazette 8363 dated 4 Dec 2020 - only 175/1 and 175/7 declared, not 176/0. There are still ownership issues with this property due to shared ownership. Gamkaberg NR - Only have the overall proclamation that the reserve was proclaimed (Gazette 4854, 12 April 1994, 37/1994). The proclamation doesn't list the properties included. Have a small map for which the source is unknown. Farm Uitvlugt 80/45 isn't marked on the map.

Groenefontein NR - Was normally referred to as Groenfontein, which also included Triangle, Kwessie, and Rooiolifantskloof, but changed it to name used in proclamation. Will be listing these reserves from now on as separate entities as per their proclamations. The proclamation document (Gazette 6550, 1 Aug 2008, No. 10 of 2008) refers to farms 56, 57 and the remnant of 58. The assumption thus is that farm 56 include all portions of farm 56 and not just the remnant. Bought by WWF-SA.

Triangle (Groenfontein) NR - Land purchased by WWF-SA. Originally incorporated as part of Groenfontein NR, but will be separated from now. Proclaimed Gov Gazette 8363, P.N. 130/2020, 4 Dec 2020.

Kwessie (Groenfontein) NR - Land purchased by WWF-SA. Originally incorporated as part of Groenfontein NR, but

will be separated from now. Properties 51/10 & 58/2 proclaimed Gov Gazette 8363, P.N. 132/2020, 4 Dec 2020,

but not property 58/1.

Rooiolifantskloof Contract NR - This is a privately owned contract nature reserve. Originally incorporated as part of

Groenfontein NR, but will be separated from now. Proclamation 3/2014, 10 Jan 2014.

Paardenberg NR - This reserve is registered state land (RSA owned). No available documentation.

Rooiberg NR - Part of this reserve is unregistered state land (RSA owned) and the other parts are state land (RSA owned). No available documentation.

Vaalhoek NR - Purchased by WWF-SA. Proclamation in Gazette 6550, 1 Aug 2008, 11/2008.

Heimersrivier NR - This reserve was purchased by WC Dept of Tourism & Public Works. The final signed inspection was completed and is now in the process to be proclaimed. Inspection report signed 14 May 2019 & letter of support from Oudtshoorn Municipality.

Rietkraal NR - This reserve was purchased by WWF-SA. The final inspection report was done on 22 Aug 2014 and a management agreement was signed on 18 Sept 2018. The reserve is now proclaimed - Government Gazette 8448, P.N. 66/2021, 18 Jun 2021.

DASSEN COASTAL COMPLEX

Ganze Craal NR - "Transfer Agreement" communication was generated 5 Dec 2014 that included 17 land parcels of which 9 will be managed by CapeNature. This is not a sufficient MOV to add to the METT area. Reserve not yet proclaimed. Decided to add in what has been included in a document "Intension to Declare, no 8055, dated 1 Mar 2019.

GEELKRANS NATURE RESERVE COMPLEX

Blomboschfontein NR - Three of the four farm portions are listed as owned by RSA. Portion 495/85 is a consolidated boundary not yet registered.

Geelkrans NR - Proclamation in Gazette 5772, no. 39/2001, 5 Oct 2001. Original boundary extracted from 2016 cadastre. Fixed the boundary against cadastre 2020 layer.

Kleinjongensfontein NR - The border properties are all listed as owned by RSA. The remnant of 494 is unregistered. No final SG diagram. No other documentation available for this.

Stilbaai Oos NR - There was quite a correction made by SG on the boundary for erf 219 (larger), size 186.751ha.

Realigned erf boundary along coast. Gazette 2507, 9 Dec 1977. No proof of when and where the erven 216 were added. Should it be added? Area of added erven 216 is 30.996ha. A memorandum (Certificate in terms of item 28(1) of schedule 6 to Act 108 of 1996) was found in which the management of erf 216 was assigned to Cape

Nature Conservation in 1998. Original boundary extracted from 2016 cadastre. Fixed the boundary against cadastre 2020 layer.

GOUKAMMA NATURE RESERVE COMPLEX

Brenton Blue Contract NR - This was originally proclaimed a Special NR on 4 July 2003, but no documentation available. Now in the process to be proclaimed a contract nature reserve. . In 2019 the status changed to signed.

Fixed boundary against cadastre 2020.

Goukamma NR - Extracted boundaries from the cadastre 2016 farm portions layer and made corrections to 215/0 (according to SG diagram) and 211 (no diagram) along coastal high-water mark and estuary using high-resolution

imagery. Only have the overall proclamation that the reserve was proclaimed (Gazette 4854, 12 April 1994, 37/1994) and later extended (Gazette 5533, no 45/2000, 9 Jun 2000). The proclamation doesn't list the properties included. Have a small map for which the source is unknown.

Buffalo Valley Contract NR - Contract NR with a CN management agreement. Not yet proclaimed.

GROOTVADERSBOSCH NATURE RESERVE COMPLEX

Boosmansbos Wilderness Area - Proclamation in Gazette 5860, no. 112, 20 Jan 1978. Extracted farm portions from cadastre 2016 and then split 114/17 and 114/18 as per proclamation. This now also matches the PACA database (DEA).

Garcia NR - Portions of 239, 240, 238 and 241 was extracted according to the old CN boundary, assuming this was the old State Land boundary. No available documentation.

Gatplaat NR - Property was listed as unregistered land. It seems both the ownership and the status is uncertain.

Received confirmation on 16/10/2019 from SG that the subdivision of farm 121/1 to create farm 121/2 (Gatplaats) was never registered.

Grootvadersbosch (Thornhill) NR - Land purchased by WWF-SA but not yet proclaimed. According to SG diagram 11007/93 and title deed, the entire farm 577 was meant to have been consolidated with farm 578, which it was according to the SG cadastre layers. Updated the boundary by adding in the missing piece of 132ha. New total of farm is 4746.66ha.

Grootvadersbosch NR - Old state forest land. No available documentation except for map showing reserve, but source of map is unknown. Split 114/17 and 114/18 as per proclamation in Gazette 5860, no. 112, 20 Jan 1978.This now also matches the PACA database (DEA).

Kruisrivier (Broomvlei) NR - Is called Kruis River Wetland NR in proclamation. Proclamation in Gazette 4743, no 22/1992, April 1992. Have a small map for which the source is unknown.

Paardeberg NR - Unregistered state land. No available documentation.

Spioenkop NR - State land owned by RSA. No available documentation.

Tygerberg NR - One property is unregistered state land, one is owned by RSA and one is owned by Western Cape Province. Correction made by SG to farm 55/0 (smaller). No available documentation.

Warmwaterberg NR - Unregistered state forest. No available documentation.

GROOTWINTERHOEK NATURE RESERVE COMPLEX

Grootwinterhoek NR - Boundaries were extracted from cadastre 2016 and then the farms 189/6 and 195/0 were split according to proclamation in Gazette 9934, no. 2113, 20 Sept 1985. Part of this reserve is unregistered state

land (no owner listed) and the other parts (RSA owned) are state land. No available documentation. Based on communication with Legal Admin and Government Gazette 5837 of 1977, the part of 192/0 (189.4ha) not proclaimed Wilderness Area, should not have been removed, but remained as part of the Grootwinterhoek Nature Reserve as state land.

Grootwinterhoek Wilderness Area - Boundaries were extracted from cadastre 2016 and then the farms 189/6, 195/0 and 192/0 were split according to proclamation in Gazette 9934, no. 2113, 20 Sept 1985. The wilderness area boundary must follow the Klein Kliphuis River (confirmed by Management). This now also matches the PACA

database (DEA).

HOTTENTOTS-HOLLAND NATURE RESERVE COMPLEX

Assegaaibosch NR - Only have the overall proclamation that the reserve was proclaimed (Gazette 4854, 12 April1994, 37/1994). The proclamation doesn't list the properties included. Issues with two of the land parcels must still be resolved. Management indicated they must be removed, but I still need documentation to indicate this.

Groenlandberg NR - There were corrections made by SG on farms 103/0, 283/1 and 102/0. Part of this reserve is unregistered state land (no owner listed) and the other parts (RSA owned) are state land. No available documentation.

Helderberg NR - Unregistered state land. No available documentation.

Hottentots-Holland NR - This reserve was proclaimed together with Jonkershoek, Gazette 6348, 16 Mar 1979, No. 469/1979. The proclaimed area on the map doesn't match the current 2016 cadastre boundary layers, especially the extra areas added to the southern tip of the reserve, and the fish-tail that links to Groenlandberg. No documentation available for these additions.

Jonkershoek NR - This reserve was proclaimed together with Hottentots Holland, Gazette 6348, 16 Mar 1979, No. 469/1979. The proclamation area on the map doesn’t match the cadastre boundaries, especially for farm 1023,

which is listed as French Hoek Forest Reserve. This might be why during the previous PAMP process, the entire cadastre unit was included as part of the Jonkershoek NR.

Simonsberg NR - All parcels are unregistered state land. No available documentation.

Theewaters NR - There was quite a correction made by SG on the farm boundary for 1/0 (smaller). Then farm portion 8/0 (41.1 ha) was included with the protected area, but is a MCA area. This reserve is state land (RSA owned). No available documentation. Farm 15/6 is state land, but agricultural activities are happening on this land.

It is also MCA. The area falling on the Theewaterskloof Dam must also be sorted out as this land is actually managed by DWS.

ISLANDS AND ROCKS COMPLEX

Duikersklip Island Reserve - Proclaimed in Gazette 5325, No. 5 of 1999, 22 January 1999. No registered boundary available from SG. The location of the island was found by plotting the centroid point in proclamation. Digitized from SPOT5 image along visible high-water mark and then buffered by 500m.

Elephant Rock Island NR - Proclaimed island reserve. Gazette 4524, 18 Mar 1988, notice no. 23/1988. No registered boundary available from SG. Digitized the island accurately from the SPOT6 2015 images.

False Bay Island NR - Extracted the boundary from cadastre 2016 farm portions and buffered it by 500m, as per the extension to the boundary proclamation in Gazette 5325, No. 5 of 1999, 22 January 1999.

Jacob’s Rock Island NR - Proclaimed island reserve. Gazette 4524, 18 Mar 1988, notice no. 23/1988. No registered boundary available from SG. Digitized the island accurately from the SPOT6 2015 images.

to look at capturing rather the entire rocky ridge, even what falls under the sea. Added 2 additional visible islands that seems to make out part of the ridge which wasn't mapped before.

Seal Ledges Island NR - No registered boundary available from SG. Digitized the island accurately from the SPOT6 2015 images. Then buffered it by 500m, as per the extension to the boundary proclamation in Gazette5325, No. 5 of 1999, 22 January 1999.

Vondeling Island NR - Extracted the boundary from cadastre 2016 farm portions and buffered it by 500m, as per the extension to the boundary proclamation in Gazette 5325, No. 5 of 1999, 22 January 1999.

KAMMANASSIE NATURE RESERVE COMPLEX

Kammanassie NR - The farms 74/1, 67/4, portion of 126/0, 6/0, 7/0 and 58/0 are declared mountain catchment areas. Parts of this reserve is unregistered state land (no owner listed) and the other parts (RSA owned) are state

land.

KEURBOOMS RIVIER NATURE RESERVE COMPLEX

Keurbooms River NR - Reserve includes portion of 522/0, small portion of 522/3 and farm 24/2. Corrected the boundary where possible to follow the 2016 cadastre, but cut the properties as per the old boundaries. Removed

properties 509/0 and 24/2 (part of road property) as was agreed on during the PAMP process. There is a map from an unknown source showing the boundary. Proclamation No. 1 of 1980, 4 January 1980, but it doesn’t list boundary description. Removed Seagull Colony (114.199ha) as according to an e-mail communication from Gail Cleaver and also the Keurbooms PAMP, is this land not under our management at all.

KNERSVLAKTE NATURE RESERVE COMPLEX

Knersvlakte NR - Proclamation in Gazette 7307, 12 September 2014, No. 10/2014. Had to remove the farm 178/8 as it wasn't listed in the proclamation, even though it was added on the map. Confirmed this with DEA. Then after

receiving comms from DRDLR, added back 178/8 and merged it with 178/2. The unregistered diagram no. 8821/1959 was withdrawn.

Lutzville Conservation area - Properties listed in the State Land list. Status unknown. Not on METT list. Properties removed as they are not managed by CapeNature and according to IAR list CapeNature is not the allocated user

department.

Kapel Conservation Area - Properties listed in the State Land list. Status unknown. An agricultural field plots into the reserve on property 306/88. Not on METT list.

KOGELBERG NATURE RESERVE COMPLEX

Brodie Link NR - Two of the properties are proclaimed (Gazette 5841, 15 Mar 2002, No. 5/2002). Property 559/115, not previously included in Brodie Link proclamation, was proclaimed as part of Kogelberg Nature Reserve, Gov Gazette 8363, P.N. 131/2020, 4 Dec 2020.

Brodie/Kogelberg WWF-land (proposed reserve) - This is WWF-SA land that wasn’t proclaimed as Brodie/Kogelberg. Properties belonging to WWF proclaimed as part of Kogelberg Nature Reserve, Gov Gazette 8363, P.N. 131/2020, 4 Dec 2020.

Houwhoek NR - Part of this reserve is unregistered state land (no owner listed) and the other parts (RSA owned) are state land. No available documentation.

Kogelberg NR - Part of this reserve is unregistered state land (no owner listed) and the other parts (RSA owned) are state land. No available documentation on state land. Kogelberg Nature Reserve proclaimed, Gov Gazette

8363, P.N. 131/2020, 4 Dec 2020. This proclamation doesn't include the state land, but incorporates Brodie/Kogelberg WWF-land (362.994), part of Brodie Link (WWF) not previously proclaimed (22.086) and Kogelberg Sonchem (393.522ha).

Kogelberg Sonchem link NR - According to 2006 Deeds information, this property belongs to WCNCB. No available documentation to determine whether it has been declared and as what. Listed as state land under DAFF.

Reserve proclaimed as part of Kogelberg Nature Reserve, Gov Gazette 8363, P.N. 131/2020, 4 Dec 2020.

Mr Hebron NR - According to feedback received from Tierck Hoekstra, the current boundary was derived by following existing fire belts at the time of hand over. These management boundaries do not follow cadastre boundaries. It appears that all the farm portions, both inside the reserve and adjacent are stateland. The land as per current boundary is what is managed by CN and therefore this is the area to be used in METT. Used the 2016 cadastre layer and clipped the farm portions according to old boundary. State land owned by RSA. No documentation available.

Rooisand (Botrivier) NR - Boundaries correspond with the area given in the proclamation of the reserve (Gazette 5951, No. 21/2002, 29 Nov 2002). The boundaries for farm 564 also match the SG diagram. BUT, the boundaries had to be adjusted for the high-water mark of both the coast and the estuary. Over years, the estuary boundary fluctuate. The cadastre boundary doesn't match the high-water mark as visible on high-resolution aerial photography. No SG diagram available for farm 565, so accepted the boundary provided with the 2016 cadastre data.

LIMIETBERG NATURE RESERVE COMPLEX

Brandvlei NR - All properties are listed as state land owned by RSA. No available documentation.

Groenberg NR - Property is unregistered state land. No available documentation.

Hawequa NR - Many corrections was made by SG to many of the farms incorporated into the reserve. Verified the list of farms against the list in PAMP. Part of this reserve is unregistered state land (no owner listed) and the other

parts (RSA owned) are state land. No available documentation. According to discussion at PAMP meeting, the properties plotting in Eerste Tol must be removed. Thus, removed the plots on southern side of Bainskloof Pass and cut off the sections forming the roads inside the town.

MARLOTH NATURE RESERVE COMPLEX

Marloth NR - Proclamation Gazette 7400, 13 Feb 1981, No. 242/1981. For some or other reason, a private property 570/0 (29.2ha) are included in the reserve. For now this property will be removed, unless the reserve management can provide a management agreement with the private land owner. According to the proclamation, the 2 properties 169/2 and 169/3 (SG diagrams dated 1997) were also meant to be in, but are used for plantation.

Subdivision seems to have been post-proclamation.

Twistniet NR - Property is unregistered state land. No available documentation.

Witbosrivier NR - State Forest owned by RSA. No available documentation.

Zuurberg NR - Property is unregistered state land. No available documentation.

OTHER

Baviaanskloof Wilderness Area - Wilderness Area owned by RSA. No documentation. Not on METT list.

JN Briers Louw NR - Private property listed as a signed Biodiversity Agreement in the Master Stewardship Sites register. At this stage this reserve’s status and who manages it is unknown. Not on METT list.

Harmony Flats NR - The owner listed is the City of Cape Town. No documentation on management agreement with CapeNature. Not on METT list.

Blaauwberg NR - Reserve was designated under the Stewardship Programme as contract nature reserve in

Gazette 7837, no. 197, 20 Oct 2017. Not on METT list.

OUTENIQUA NATURE RESERVE COMPLEX

Doringrivier Wilderness Area - Proclamation of WA in Gazette 11307, no. 955, 20 May 1988. Also has a small map of which the source is unknown.

Kammanassie - Annex Vlugt NR - State Forest owned by RSA. No available documentation. Forms part of Kammanassie, but this property was grouped with Outeniqua, as Outeniqua is part of the Garden Route WHS complex and this property plots adjacent to it.

Ruitersbos NR - State land owned by RSA. No available documentation.

Witfontein NR - Only a portion of farm 352/1 is managed by CN and therefore clipped boundary according to old boundary layer. State land owned by RSA. No available documentation.

RIVERLANDS NATURE RESERVE COMPLEX

Pella NR - This is WWF-SA land, but not yet proclaimed. Property proclaimed as part of the Riverlands Nature Reserve, Gov Gazette 8488, P.N. 103/2021, 10 Sept 2021. Therefore, no longer known as Pella.

Riverlands NR - The boundaries were extracted from the cadastre 2016 farm portions and one "portion" (portion of erf 7816 - ex farm 755/3) extracted from the cadastre 2016 erven layer. No proclamation document available showing the boundary. Only have the overall proclamation (GG 4854, no 37/1994, 12 Apr 1994) that the reserve was proclaimed. The proclamation doesn't list the properties included. Pella property proclaimed as part of the Riverlands Nature Reserve, Gov Gazette 8488, P.N. 103/2021, 10 Sept 2021.

ROBBERG NATURE RESERVE COMPLEX

Robberg NR - The reserve was proclaimed in Gazette 172 of 1980, 25 Jul 1980. According to the SG diagram, the boundary of the property follows the high-water mark. Used the 2013/14 aerial photos to redigitize the boundary along visible high-water mark.

ROCHERPAN NATURE RESERVE COMPLEX

Rocherpan NR - The boundary surveyed by Arvind N. Bhawan in Sept 2009 was used and approx. match the SG diagram description. Boundary along coast better aligned with submeter imagery. The boundary does not match

the cadastre 2016 layer.

SALMONSDAM NATURE RESERVE

Salmonsdam NR - Reserve was proclaimed in Gazette XXXX, proclamation no. 20/1990, 9 March 1990, Nature and Environmental Conservation Ordinance, 1974 (Ordinance 19 of 1974). Correct in PACA / SAPAD.

SWARTBERG NATURE RESERVE COMPLEX

Gamkapoort NR - A proclaimed provincial nature reserve. Gazette 4770, 9 Oct 1992, No. 93 of 1992. The farm portion 120/0 (listed in the CN layer) were removed as this property were not listed in the proclamation. Gamkakloof (Die Hel) NR - Parts of reserve is declared provincial nature reserve (Gazette 4854, 12 Apr 1994, No37 of 1994), undeclared land in part owned by both RSA and WWF-SA land, and in part ownership with RSA and private land owners. No clear documentation available. Just used the 2016 cadastre to fix the boundaries. The current boundary, excluding the 2 WWF land portions 201/1 and 201/2, matches the map found. Source of map unknown.

Groot Swartberg NR - This reserve is unregistered state land for which part is listed with no owner and the other part RSA owned. No available documentation. Farms 180/0 and 14/0 were split according to old boundary,

approximately following the Grootrivier, west in Groot Swartberg and east in Swartberg East. Discovered error in boundary. Needed to add in property 192/1 (43.64ha).

Swartberg East NR - This reserve is unregistered state land for which part is listed with no owner and the other part RSA owned. No available documentation. Farms 180/0 and 14/0 were split according to old boundary, approximately following the Grootrivier, west in Groot Swartberg and east in Swartberg East. The section falling within the Eastern Cape was extracted from 2012 cadastre data.

Towerkop NR - This reserve is mostly unregistered state land for which part is listed with no owner and the other part RSA owned. One property is listed belonging to the MCSA or is it only a servitude? No available

documentation.

VROLIJKHEID NATURE RESERVE COMPLEX

Riviersonderend NR - Accepted that with quite a few reserves, where MCA areas are state owned, they are included as part of the protected area managed by CN. Based on discussion with Tierck, the boundary matched to

the 2016 cadastre layer plus the portions of 64/0 and 64/1 must be used. Also added in the portion of farm 121 for which no cadastre boundary in the 2016 layer is available. State land owned by RSA. No documentation available. Vrolijkheid NR - Based on proclamation according to Gazette xxxx, 10 Dec 1976, No. 409/1976 and extension proclamation Gazette 4718, 1 Oct 1991, No. 75/1991. Also refer to map of which the source in unknown.

WALKER BAY NATURE RESERVE COMPLEX

Pearly Beach NR - For both farms 318/1 and 321/19 one SG diagram indicates the boundary following the highwater mark, whereas the other SG diagram indicates actual coordinate points along the coast. State land owned by RSA. No documentation available.

Quoin Point NR - The 2016 cadastre boundaries was a good match for coastline. This reserve is mostly unregistered state land for which part is listed with no owner and the other part RSA owned. No available documentation.

Soetfontein NR - This property is unregistered state land. No documentation available. As no SG diagram could be readily found, the boundary is per the 2016 cadastre layer is used, even though it doesn't follow the high-water mark very well. Therefore, once a SG diagram is found, this boundary and reserve size is likely to change.

Uilkraalsmond NR - This reserve is mostly unregistered state land for which part is listed with no owner and the other part RSA owned. No available documentation.

Walker Bay NR - There was quite a correction made by SG on the boundary for farm 441/0. Realigned farm boundary to solid land. This reserve is mostly unregistered state land for which part is listed with no owner and the other part RSA owned. No available documentation.

WATERVAL NATURE RESERVE COMPLEX

Ben-Etive NR - Property is state forest owned by RSA. No available documentation.

Bokkeriviere NR - After receiving a layer of property beacons and having a careful look at aerial photos, visible fire belts and boundary indicators according to the topo maps were used to derive what the actual Bokkeriviere reserve should look like after removing the area used by SANDF. No available documentation and will most probably will need to be surveyed.In 2020, found written communication from Dept. of Public Works, dated 12 Sept 1994, and based on description provided, the correct split of properties 353 and 353/1 between CN and SANDF were captured using GPS points. The correction of the boundaries was discussed with SANDF and agreement reached.

A new diagram was surveyed for the Bokkeriviere Nature Reserve; SG no 1076/2021.

Fonteintjiesberg NR - Property is state forest owned by RSA. No available documentation.

Kasteelberg NR - The private property 635/0 (size 72.5ha) was removed as it is now incorporated into erf 1871, falling within Riebeek Kasteel. Properties is unregistered state land. No available documentation.

Voelvlei NR - Boundaries clipped according to old CNC boundaries next to dam. No documents available describing boundary along dam. Only have the overall proclamation (Gazette 4854, 12 April 1994, 37/1994) that the reserve was proclaimed. The proclamation doesn't list the properties included.

Waterval NR - Part of this reserve is unregistered state land (RSA owned) and the other parts are state land (RSA

owned). No available documentation.

Wittebrug NR - Part of this reserve is unregistered state land (no owner listed) and the other parts are state land (RSA owned). No available documentation.

Witzenberg NR - All properties are unregistered state land. No available documentation.Fixed boundary against latest cadastre 2020 layer.
